DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) is a variation of the FUE technique where hair follicles are harvested followed the same process involved in FUE technique and then using a special tool called the Choi pen for direct implantation.

Therefore the main difference between DHI and FUE hair transplant techniques is the method used to implant the hair follicles in the recipient area but the remaining process is the same.

In FUE, hair follicles are extracted one by one using a small punch tool and are then individually transplanted into small incisions made in the recipient area. The process is repeated until the desired numbers of follicles have been transplanted.
